What this lab stands for
The UBeX lab lets you run behavioural studies in a virtual city — on foot or by bike, with multiple players at once. Things that are ethically or physically impossible in the real city can be done here.
Behaviour in the city, in an environment you can actually change. UBeX offers physical zones where IX experiences are designed and studied in an urban context — on foot, by bike, in traffic.
You see how people really behave before a single stone has been moved. The lab also provides training itself: how do you build such an environment, and how do you measure what happens. For anyone designing public space, this is the place to try it out first.
What we are setting up for BRIX
What TU/e · UBeX is building as part of the CIIIC programme.
The UBeX lab at TU/e is renewing its equipment. The lab has zones where you enter a virtual city on foot or by bike, with its own bicycle simulator. New virtual modules make it quick to set up behavioural studies, such as MYOS: Make Your Own Street, built in Unreal Engine. The lab also gives training in them.
