About BRIX

The innovation agenda

BRIX uses its collaborative structure and orchestration to deliver innovation that does not get stuck in the lab but makes the step into practice. The agenda is the compass: a few big goals that can only be reached together.

Work on these lines is already under way, through programmes such as Regiodeal Brede Welvaart, MIT, WBSO and the JointTransitionFonds. One reason BRIX came about as an IX lab is that parties found each other through shared innovation needs.

Mock-up

This is the agenda of BRIX, not of the labs. Every lab has its own roadmap and sets it itself. BRIX does not direct the labs; we organise what happens between them.

What we are working towards

  1. 2026 – 2027

    Phase 1Foundation

BRIX as an innovation cluster of connected IX labs, with overarching orchestration of services and fundraising.

    • Generating market demand
    • Developing services
    • Fully established matchmaking
    • Operations and exploitation
    • Standardisation of facilities
    • Strategic development
    • Starting innovation and service agendas
  2. 2028 – 2029

    Phase 2Scale-up

BRIX as an expertise and service network that maximises the use of IX lab facilities and actively sets up innovation tracks.

    • A running innovation agenda through EU and Dutch funds, along with the products
    • Shared infrastructure that speeds up IX development in risk, development and scaling
    • A distribution network for IX content, for public programming and national coverage
  3. 2030 and beyond

    Phase 3IX launch platform

BRIX as a catapult for IX products and services across the different TRL levels, connected to the capabilities of the labs and their facilities.

    • BRIX delivers products and services every year that move into the growth and scale-up phase
    • BRIX as a provider of shared services that speed up IX distribution, development and adoption
    • BRIX as an international network for scaling and distributing IX content through partners

Five innovation lines

Each line runs through all three phases. What happens in a phase builds on what the previous one delivered — and on what partners bring.
