What that means

No advertising networks, no social media buttons watching along, and no statistics service from another company.

We do count visits, without a cookie

We want to know whether people find the site and which pages work. We count that ourselves, on our own server. No cookie is placed on your computer and nothing is stored in your browser.

For each page viewed we keep: which page, in which language, which website you came from (only its name, such as linkedin.com), your country, and whether you use a phone, tablet or computer. We do not keep your IP address. Together with your browser details we turn it into an unreadable code, using a key that is replaced every day. That way we can see for one day that two pages were viewed by the same visitor, and no longer after that.

If Global Privacy Control (Sec-GPC) or Do Not Track is switched on in your browser, we do not count you. Anyone who is logged in is not counted either. Only the BRIX administrator sees the figures, and we keep them for 25 months.

The protected portal is the exception

Behind /portaal, lab managers work on their own lab page. Anyone who logs in there gets one cookie: the session that remembers you are logged in. Without that cookie you would have to request a new login link with every click.

It falls under what the law calls strictly necessary, and nothing needs to be asked for that. It measures nothing, follows you nowhere, and you only get it if you log in yourself. If you only visit the public site, not a single cookie is placed on your computer.

Three things we do store

Only if you log in with an account does your own browser keep three things. That is not a cookie but local storage, and there are exactly three:

brix.review.*

Your review comments, your name and whether the review bar is switched on — for the review tool, which partners use to leave comments on the pages before the site goes live. It stays in your browser, goes nowhere, and disappears when you clear your browser data.

brix.portaal.plek

The address of the last page you had open in the portal, so that Back to the portal takes you there. No name, no content. It stays in your browser and disappears when you clear your browser data.

brix.gids.*

Which step of a tutorial you are on, so the guide follows you from the portal to the site and back. It disappears when you close the tab. Also whether the guide’s sound is on or off. No name, no content.

Visitors without an account never see this, so nothing is stored for them either.

If this changes

If any other form of measurement is ever added, this page changes with it — and if it involves non-essential cookies, a request for consent is added. There is a test in the code that fails as soon as a cookie or an external script is added. That way this page cannot quietly become untrue.
