What this lab stands for
The Robot Lab studies how AI makes robots smarter, and how people and robots interact. With humanoid robots, a robot arm, a robot dog and a self-built robot hand.
A robot that understands people has to learn the way people do. That is the approach of this lab. Researchers combine machine learning, interaction design and psychology into models for robots, both physical and virtual.
They work with social robots such as NAO, Pepper, QT and Furhat, a Franka robot arm, a Unitree robot dog and a hand of their own with sixteen joints. The equipment is fragile and takes experience, so you work here together with the researchers. Think of human-robot interaction, or careful grasping.
What we are setting up for BRIX
What Tilburg University · Robot Lab is building as part of the CIIIC programme.
Tilburg University is renewing the Robot Lab in MindLabs, one of its four research labs for BRIX. Outdated equipment is replaced, and support for instruction and access is added. Through BRIX, you can commission research into how people and smart robots work together, carried out by specialised researchers.
