What this lab stands for
BUas was the first university of applied sciences in Europe with a virtual production studio. Together with the motion capture and photogrammetry studios, it forms a complete pipeline: from scanning a person to a virtual character on screen in real time.
The strength lies not in the individual equipment but in the chain. Mocap, photogrammetry and an XR stage together form an end-to-end pipeline for virtual production and virtual humans — ready for repeated use by makers and those who apply them.
Because the stage was deliberately set up as teaching and research capacity, it is accessible on a permanent basis. Not occasional availability, but a fixed place in the network.
What we are setting up for BRIX
What BUas is building as part of the CIIIC programme.
BUas is expanding its media production facilities in Breda and opening them to the IX network. The virtual production stage gets a high-end LED wall, new lighting, cameras and computing power. Together with the motion capture studio and the photogrammetry studio, this forms one chain: from recording and 3D scan to a usable virtual character.
